Essence of Dunsmuir  –  A Photographic Exploration    (An open juried show)

Theme of Show: Contemporary Photos of Dunsmuir, California

Purpose: To look at Dunsmuir with new eyes and promote the architectural richness of Dunsmuir.

Focus is on the architecture, landscapes and uniqueness of the Dunsmuir community. Black & white or color photos can be micro- to macro-scale and must capture an essence of Dunsmuir, whether it be buildings, walls, railings, signs, steps, pathways, drains, gutters, streams, streets, automobiles, junk, etc. Some form of architecture and/or hardscape is required. People, plants and other objects are also encouraged but not required. Most importantly, the curators seek photos that capture the “Essence of Dunsmuir”.

All digital or film photos must be taken of public spaces, whether it be indoors or outside. Day and/or night time photography is encouraged.

All photographs must be taken by the submitting artist.

Submit digital images to be judged for show entry to siskiyouartsmuseum@gmail.com. Up to 3 entries per photographer. Please indicate size of framed, ready to hang photo. Give a title for each photograph plus indicate the street location (but not address) of each photograph. All photographs accepted into the show must be matted & framed with wire in the back, ready to hang. Photos for sale are encouraged but not required. $10 entry fee for the show except for current Siskiyou Arts Museum members (or you can become a member for $20).  Please title the email “Essence of Dunsmuir” Photo Show, and include a filled out copy of this ARTIST RELEASE.


Deadline for digital submissions: March 19th (at least 300 dpi)

Hanging of Show: April 5th/6th

Opening reception: April 8th

Date of Show: April 8th to May 6th

Show pick up dates: May 9th/10th

Two photography walkabouts to explore Dunsmuir and encourage photo entries will happen on Saturday, March 11th at 10am and Sunday, March 12th at 4pm. Meet at SAM. Approximately 2 hours. Only heavy rain cancels.
