The popular Rumi’s Caravan event is returning to Siskiyou County this year at SAM on Friday, May 2nd at 7pm.

You will be delighted by this performed treasury of poetic conversation… with jars of delicious laughter, baskets of sacred wisdom and golden cups of Love and Delight.  Listen to poetry spanning from 13th century Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, a Persian poet and the namesake of the event, to modern evocative works by David Whyte, Alice Walker, D.H. Lawrence and others.

The poetry is spontaneously performed by the amazing troupe of poets including Doug von Koss from San Francisco, Barry and Maya Spector from Oakland, Kay Crista, former Sonoma County Poet Laureate Gwynn O’Gara, and Larry Robinson from Sebastopol.

This popular evening of literary arts and music will benefit SAM and the Dunsmuir Library.  Patricia Hill, The Village Harpist, will be on hand and Dunsmuir’s local restaurants will be providing scrumptious Hors d’oeuvres.  $10 donation suggested (with more gratefully received…it’s a fundraiser for two wonderful community resources).
