In early August, the Siskiyou Arts Museum (SAM) in Dunsmuir installed new glass display cabinets that were purchased using a grant from the The McConnell Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation. The grant was used to purchase greeting card display racks, locking glass jewelry cases and additional lighting fixtures for the gallery and museum.

The McConnell Fund grant will help the Siskiyou Arts Museum fulfill its mission to serve local artists by providing professional quality showroom, gallery and performance space. Over the past two years, SAM has shown and sold the work of over 125 artists and performers. The gallery, museum and gift store, located in Dunsmuir’s downtown Historic District attracts visitors and locals for shopping and events, including monthly Second Saturday Arts Openings, workshops, music, poetry and literary events, and educational activities for students.

“We are grateful to the McConnell Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation for helping us to expand our services to the public and to artists with the new exceptional quality display equipment,” noted SAM Board President, Ernie Wasson. “The quality of the work of our local artists is exceptional, deserving of the very best possible displays.”
