Connected Visions
by Lauri Sturdivant
Dialing the Sun, J.L. Long, oil, 24 x 30”
Connected Visions opened at the Siskiyou Arts Museum on July 12th, to a crowd of Dunsmuir 2nd Saturday arts enthusiasts. The show features the paintings of Chuck Prudhomme and Julie L. Long, both north state artists who paint in the plein air style best known through the Impressionist era. The quest to capture light on canvas is a centuries old exploration of artists. Plein air literally translates to the act of painting outdoors. The pursuit of a plein air painter is to capture the light with paint on canvas of a moment in time when the light is constantly changing.
Please note that both Chuck and Julie have donated a painting to be auctioned off with most of the proceeds benefiting SAM. Auction bid sheets are in the gallery next to the paintings. There will be a live auction to close the bidding at the end of the show in September.

Chuck Prudhomme
Chuck Pruhomme is often found with his easel painting a scene and enjoying the outdoors. He is a plein air painter in the style of the impressionists. His subjects are landscapes, ocean vistas, city views throughout the west coast. Chuck has a mastery of translating a moment in time onto his painted canvas.
Chuck grew up in Africa on the plains of the Serengeti National Park and jungles of west Africa. Chuck began his art career when a cardiac arrest ended his flight career after 30 years flying helicopters from Antarctica to Greenland and all points in between. He teaches paint classes with several art groups including the Siskiyou Artist Association. He paints in oils and acrylics.
